More Bush Blather on Iraq

Shut up those Tivo's, get your DVR on erase and block American channels, the Leader of the Occupied World is ready to speak again on Iraq. Jiminy Crickets, George Bush put up a giant Mission Accomplished banner in May of 2003 on an aircraft carrier wearing a commander flight suit then changed a la a reverse Clark Kent into a suit to shout/announce major combat operations were over. Bush is now hungering for American support for more stupidity and deaths in Iraq. Bush will exit the White House as a disgraced president in less than 500 days, but each and every one of those days during his reign of terror has brought scarcity of resources, impoverished the world intellectually and literally with his environmental politics, and sadly, killed civilians and military personnel the world over for a cause that will go down in history as one of the worst strategic blunders, ever. The collateral damage from this presidency will take years to amend and atone for American misdeeds.

A preview, Bush wants you to clap your hands harder and BELIEVE in Magical September and the Surge & Splurge in the failure that is Iraq. He has willfully lied about so many things, but he wants you to really truly believe with sugar on top, his smirking lips as they tumble over his oft mangled words, the insurgents are in their last throes, we're turning the corner, blah blah blah. The man even looks tired these days as he gets ready to campaign for more deaths and destruction in Iraq. Bush appointed a War Czar that got swallowed whole by the whale bureaucracy in the incompetent White House after he mentioned the need for a, gasp, draft. The military can't take much more in its present deployment configuration. Now we wait for General Petraeus to announce his nonreport that was written by the Bush White House drones. Ta Dah!
"I will discuss the changes our strategy has brought to Iraq. I will lay out a vision for future involvement in Iraq -- one that I believe the American people and their elected leaders of both parties can support," Bush said today in his weekly radio address taped in Australia where he is currently attending the Asia-Pacific meet.

Bush said he will discuss his strategy after hearing from his top military commander in Iraq General David Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan Crocker.
"Next week, after consulting with the Joint Chiefs of Staff, my national security team, members of Congress from both parties, and Iraqi leaders, I will speak directly to the nation about the recommendations General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker have presented to me," Bush said. Riverbend writes a poetic blog (Baghdad Burning) from Baghdad intermittently. A few days ago she announced her exile to Jordan as she looked back at the country of her birth torn asunder for a lie. There were no WMD's in Iraq and they had nothing to do with 9/11. Bush needs to desperately believe his mistake was just. On the question of American slavery, I will quote the third president of the United States, Thomas Jefferson, "I tremble to think that God is Just". Bush should tremble.

A number of conservatives who discovered rational thinking this year have written some excellent and heartbreaking treatises on this president's malfeasance and the descendancy of the conservative movement. Take heart, elected Democrats are failing to lead and that includes presidential candidates who are not seeking an immediate end to this Iraq travesty. Osama bin Laden released a top viewing video, YouTube-style this week. Why did our incompetent leader Bush not focus on him? (picture courtesy Al Jazeera)

John Dean wrote Conservatives Without a Conscience based on his kind regard for Barry Goldwater and the shift in conservative principles to authoritarianism. Richard Viguerie, a true longtime conservative, wrote Conservatives Betrayed: How George W. Bush and other Big Time Republicans Hijacked the Conservative Cause.

Nuclear Warheads Fly Across American Skies

An American Air Force B-52 flew five nuclear warheads over the friendly skies of the US. From Minot Air Force base in North Dakota straight down the turtle tummy of the country to Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana. Nobody knows how W80-1 nuclear warheads took a scenic in-country one way trip without supervision from those accountable for monitoring nuclear munitions.

Air Force spokesman Lt. Col. Ed Thomas said the transfer was safely conducted and the weapons were in Air Force custody and control at all times. However, the mistake was not discovered until the B-52 landed at Barskdale, which left the warheads unaccounted for during the approximately 3-1/2 hour flight between the two bases, the officers said.

"Air Force standards are very exacting when it comes to munitions handling," Thomas said. "The weapons were always in our custody and there was never a danger to the American public."

(hmmm, what if the plane crashed?)

These bombs are cruise missiles with nuclear warheads that just destroyed whatever checks and balances the military has for the safety of our own nukes as the US jumps up and down about everyone else's. Irony abounds at the highest levels of the US government. Speaking of bombs and the Bush administration...

This comes as we find out yesterday a Bush administration lawyer yokel, David Addington declared with the appropriate sneer:
Goldsmith deplored the way the White House tried to fix the problem, which was highly contemptuous of Congress and the courts. “We’re one bomb away from getting rid of that obnoxious [FISA] court,” Goldsmith recalls Addington telling him in February 2004.
Conservative Jack Goldsmith wrote an aptly titled book, The Terror Presidency: Law and Judgment Inside the Bush Administration about the dereliction of legal duty practiced by the Cheney/Bush administration. What is it with this administration and bombs?

Bush's Creepy Aide Exits White House

Everyone has an experience working in a toxic environment with people who make going to work feel like a ten ton weight is crushing their optimism and spirit. The cause of that is the same as if you work in a palace or a post office.

Leaders that cultivate and reward bad behavior do not create productive or effective workplaces. Incompetence runs rampant when the boss plays favorites or listens to one opinion. Trust is broken and the organization fails to win overall approval or enact programs or legislation necessary because a majority refuses to work with corrupted and co-opted individuals. It happens a lot in every organization, but it is embarrassing and enraging when it is blatant in side the United States White House. It is proof positive that the leader of the institution is a failure. It breeds incompetence.

Karl Rove is the quintessential definition of a poor team player, relying on his status as the boss's favorite. Nevermind that the president's own father fired Karl Rove more than a decade ago for leaking to Robert Novak classified and sensitive information. Past performance is indicative of future results. Once again, Karl Rove treasonously leaked code word classified data of a covert spy's identity to, ta da, Robert Novak. Karl Rove was part and parcel of Bush's failure as a president, but his claim to eternal fame and flames is getting the most incompetent president ever and failed leader installed as president of the United States. What a terrible legacy he leaves as "Bush's Brain".

Lee Atwater confessed on his death bed to his bad behavior and vile tactics in the book Bad Boys. Roger Ailes of Fox News was a mentor of his. Fox has been the propaganda organ of use by this administration. Haldeman wrote The Haldeman Diaries becoming a memoir cheaply trading in the banalities of daily evil in the Nixon White House after his death.

So Far, 110th Congress is a Failure

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
The 110th Congress is setting itself up for utter humiliation. The ungodly War in Iraq has not ended, though lame Republicans continue to support the death and destruction prevalent in Iraq. Republican cognitive dissonance is so bad they speak with forked tongues about ending the war and always vote with the failed policies of George W. Bush, endangering us all. Republicans have done their version of reading The Pet Goat, like their mentor George Bush did while the World Trade Center Towers were being attacked. Republicans voted against decency, the Rule of Law and the Constitution so many times displaying no honor, just shame in being obstructionist and enabling the tyranny of the Cheney/Bush administration.

Meanwhile a fair few Democrats abandoned accountability and the Rule of Law to fund and enable the Iraq Debacle, the Military Commission Act and a host of other egregious sins against The Constitution. Many were willing to give Congress a bit of time to get its sea legs and they decided the ship should stay tied to the shoreline where the risks of capsizing are negligible. A Democratic Congress given the reins of power chose milquetoast strokes, rather than strong independent stances on Principle, then greased their moderate blue dog bottoms to slide on one of the steepest giant spill rides to the bottom of the polls, ever. They chose to capitulate, not agitate, as Frederick Douglass, as the Republican freed slave advocated.

This has led to a rift and a lack of a singular voice to lead the 110th Congress. The people are far ahead of this placid Congress that enabled and lashed itself to the Moby Dick of the 21st Century, George Bush. Senator Feingold trills and tinkles on Meet the Press this morning to reintroduce the bold non-legal, non-binding Censure which does nothing to uphold the Rule of Law or culminate in an Impeachment inquiry. Speaker Nancy Pelosi says Impeachment is off the table because they were working on other things, like a pay raise for minimum wage earners and themselves. There are over 3600 dead Americans and 650,000 dead Iraqi's, abuses of power in Iraq and America and this was the best they could do?

The supposedly moderate members of a Bush poodle-coiffed Congress believed America was with them - the polls show a whopping No on that. Americans are on the side of getting out of Iraq, holding up the Constitution and the Rule of Law. We have an Amber Alert out on Congress - where can they be?

Iraq: Bush's Titanic Disaster

In the face of insurmountable evidence, George W. Bush refuses to accept reality on the latest Babylon Civil War. He repeats his mantra; Iraq is winnable, if we stay the course, if we give the military more time and until I decide what to do next.

Egads!, that's the problem right there, a complete over reliance on the US military while misusing their military skills as Iraqi law enforcement. The contention and ideal of staying the course with each new version of his Iraq Debacle policies shames an already tarnished and diminished president, forever eliminating him as a world leader worth hearing.

Surge Iraq 2.0 is under review, too bad it is not a peer review by a responsible co-equal branch of government. Republicans have been obstructionist by saying one thing and voting another in righting the ship of state. No wonder Bush gets to keep extending his drippy stay at Camp Delusional. The 2007 Surge is taking heavy verbal artillery fire from Democrats and a few tough sounding Republicans. Bush's shriveled hopes rely on a September report from General Petraeus that he hopes to trumpet from every minaret that he can make Iraq work out, until he is finally out of America's White House .

Meanwhile, Iraq's Prime Minister Maliki says America can exit stage right at anytime.

A decorated veteran member of the 101st Airborne gave a rebuttal to Bush's Iraq happy talk on the radio Saturday. Brandon Friedman will release the book, The War I Always Wanted by Zenith Press in August of 2007.

Presidential Requirement: Preserve, Protect & Defend the Constitution

That is a key part of the Oath of Office for an American president as proscribed directly in The Constitution. Members of the US Senate and the House of Representatives, government officials, the Judiciary and our nation's military swear a slightly different Oath using the words support and defend. A memorable oath took place with the ceremonial use of Jefferson's Koran combining the past with the present, unnerving a few Christian hypocrites. The Oath does not have a religious value, but many use holy texts to underline their commitment.

In all cases, the oath of office involves affirming or swearing an Oath to uphold the US Constitution, the culmination of Democracy. The precious Blood of the citizenry flowed within the borders of this country and in other sovereign nations in support and defense of the ideals and principles contained within the Constitution since the founding of this republic. Now The Constitution and what it means is at stake and few are paying attention.

There is a bill for Cheney's Impeachment that has gained more c0-sponsors. That is not enough. Bush and Cheney have refused cooperation with an equal branch of government, wiretapped illegally and admitted the illegality, used faulty intelligence to send the nation into the most misbegotten and incompetently run war, renditioned people to secret prisons, agreed to suspension of the hallowed use of Habeus Corpus, outed an undercover CIA official, allowed the destruction of a US city as the victims of Katrina were left in squalor, lost billions in funds in Iraq, created a culture that allowed the manifestation of Abu Gharib and on and on. It is as if the Bush/Cheney cabal is daring Impeachment by a sheepish Congress. The books alone on the malfeasance and maliciousness of this administration will forever scorch the Bush administration's legacy for generations to the 10th power to come. So much for Bush's wish to be rescued by Lady History.

On Friday, July 13th, Bill Moyers on PBS, invited the author of the first article of Impeachment for Bill Clinton, Bruce Fein and John Nichols on to discuss the current Constitutional Crisis and its required Remedy. Crimes need the investigation and leadership of the House of Representatives. Speaker Pelosi stated Impeachment was "off the Table". Nancy, the Table belongs to the People. That violates your Oath of Office to support and defend. There must be a moral leader who understands that the Constitution stands above partisan politics, reinforces the foundation of the Rule of Law and is willing to lose his or her political job over it. The Constitution laid out the rationale and the Founders anticipated just this scenario. Impeachment is embedded in the parchment for a Purpose. Are we without Leadership that understands its Purpose and forgot its Oath?

Moyer's PBS special last night with conservatives agreeing that Impeachment is the Remedy is must see TV. To learn more about the House of Representatives, the body responsible for investigatinons that may possibly lead to any president's impeachment, please read the beautifully researched book by Robert V. Remini, The House: The History of the House of Representatives. Upon reflection, he wishes he had named the book The People's House.

Cheney - The Bad News Bear

You have to work hard, really hard to get as much bad press as Vice President Cheney.

Cheney's relentless advocacy of the Iraq war, his push to expand presidential authority and his hard-line rhetoric toward North Korea and Iran are raising concerns even among former loyalists now worried about the GOP's chances in 2008.

It seems Cheney fatigue is settling in some Republican circles.

Cheney starred in his own 4 part series showing the range of his micromanaging, lack of sentiment for salmon or the friend he peppered - no shot, directly in the face. He felt no need to tell his nominal boss or the boss's minions, but bless his heart, Cheney did find the most junior ranking reporter to mumble to about his role in the muddled story. Blaming the target for getting in front of his gun while shooting wingless birds was unique. But hey, Cheney had bigger fish to fry, his own minion, Irving Lewis "Scooter" Libby was on trial for Perjury and Obstruction of Justice, then CONVICTED, and got not a full-Monty pardon, but a commuted sentence on behalf of Guess Who...

The publishing industry will continue the book bonanza with this secretive and maladroit administration. What interesting book has really opened your eyes about the inner trappings of Bushworld?
