Live Earth: Blending Climate Change & Music

Al Gore, Earth's prize winning champion, tried to enlist 2 billion people in a heated campaign to save Earth from the evils of Global Warming. Big Al's SOS campaign has a pledge of reducing C02 and living a carbon neutral life. Wonderfully balanced at both the New Jersey Meadowlands and DC venue, was Earth's heavyweight hero, Al Gore.

Who took the pledge to reduce C02 emissions and live a carbon neutral Life? Here's how!
Then each of us needs to SHOUT or sing:

Melissa Etheridge brought the crowds to thunderous ovations at the venue, in words around the blogosphere, clapping at home while watching on NBC's cable feeds to CNBC and Bravo and on satellite radio. She flat out rocked the house with the Oscar-winning song from An Inconvenient Truth. Singing Mercy Me; Alisha Keys in hot pink, also unveiled her latest release in NYC, while high heeled rocker Joss Stone brought the house down. From Johoburg to Wembley Stadium where Madonna transfixed the crowd, it was musical magic. In a wildly enthusiastic Rio de Janiero, I really heart Guilherme Arantes for singing about the water!

No one can speak or write about An Inconvenient Truth like Al Gore, but many can sing!

California's Lusty Mayors

If Lust were an Olympic event, the California mayoral contingent is going for the gold! The pre-Olympic Lust trials were notable as Governor Schwarzenegger confessed doing bad groping stuff, then California's Assembly Speaker confessed his affair of the loins. But lustful competition intensified between the amorous mayors of California's two largest cities with the biggest media markets. One mayor has gone to rehab and the other is claiming his girlfriend is not pregnant.

Executing the first triple backwards somersault was the entrant from Northern California, Gavin Newsom, Mayor of the City by the Bed, 00ps, Bay. And in a spectacular swan dive, the newest entrant from Southern California, Mayor of the City of Devils; bah! these typos, Angels, tied him and raised the stakes as his new paramour is a, I will go with - part time anchor. (Pardon the pun.) But au contraire says Newsom, he was married to the fair and balanced version of news first. This is the "Hizzonner" stuff of movie deals - advantage to Villaraigosa. Oliver Stone with his best tinfoil crown couldn't make this stuff up.

Pols and matters of the illicit heart bring begging publishers carrying great big checks, frantically pushing doorbells to help them write tell-all memoirs. The dueling memoirs resulting from a New Jersey gay love affair were preceded by the very worth reading memoirs of a president and a living history from the president-in-waiting that without a charming beret-wearing intern preening as the Devil In A Blue Dress; sorry Easy Rawlins, would not have captured the lurid imaginations of so many about politicians sex lives.

Now, if we just knew who the media was sleeping with it would, ...never mind...

Cheney - The Bad News Bear

You have to work hard, really hard to get as much bad press as Vice President Cheney.

Cheney's relentless advocacy of the Iraq war, his push to expand presidential authority and his hard-line rhetoric toward North Korea and Iran are raising concerns even among former loyalists now worried about the GOP's chances in 2008.

It seems Cheney fatigue is settling in some Republican circles.

Cheney starred in his own 4 part series showing the range of his micromanaging, lack of sentiment for salmon or the friend he peppered - no shot, directly in the face. He felt no need to tell his nominal boss or the boss's minions, but bless his heart, Cheney did find the most junior ranking reporter to mumble to about his role in the muddled story. Blaming the target for getting in front of his gun while shooting wingless birds was unique. But hey, Cheney had bigger fish to fry, his own minion, Irving Lewis "Scooter" Libby was on trial for Perjury and Obstruction of Justice, then CONVICTED, and got not a full-Monty pardon, but a commuted sentence on behalf of Guess Who...

The publishing industry will continue the book bonanza with this secretive and maladroit administration. What interesting book has really opened your eyes about the inner trappings of Bushworld?

Secret Memo Leaked

Executive sits in corner or oval office contemplating the effects of a universal campaign that could have devastating effects on history and the bottom line. Decides to pre-empt the enemy and outline his thinking on modern stone tablets for his select inner circle. The outcome just writes itself. Memo sent directly to the person most responsible for executive woes...

Um, how many business people have to learn the cruelest way possible from personal experience that explosive tapes and memos are words best left unsaid and unwritten.

Who knew execs were paid to write movie reviews? The company paid 10 bucks for VP to assess this movie, then make an action plan that accidentally included priceless PR for the other guy. Insert laughter! How much advance notice did they have this was coming out? My goodness, our inept government announced the trip to Cuba should be investigated. The media is all atwitter that a celebrity director (put celebrity in front of anything - guaranteed saturation media coverage) was premiering it all over the nation.

It's official, the health care industry confirms in writing, it is SiCKO!
